Opportunities to work at your local airfield in air traffic and operations

Are you passionate about aviation and interested in working part-time or full-time at Shobdon Airfield?

We have opportunities for people with interest and enthusiasm to join the small, friendly and committed staff team at the airfield, to work in various different roles.  We can offer a flexible working arrangement, either fixed part-time (minimum one day a week) or variable part-time days per month.  For suitably qualified applicants we may also have full-time opportunities.

We are looking for people to work in airfield operations/reception, welcoming both visiting and based pilots and assisting with office duties; there is also the opportunity to train up as part of the refuelling team and Airfield Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (RFFS).

We are also looking for people who are interested and have the aptitude for joining the Air Traffic Service Unit (ATSU), which provides safety-critical information to pilots over the radio.  Shobdon provides a CAA-licensed Flight Information Service and is looking to recruit or train up Aerodrome Flight Information Services Officers (AFISOs) and also Air-Ground Radio Operators.   Ideally you would already hold a Radio Operators Certificate of Competence and also an AFISO licence, but we could offer guidance and support to people obtaining these qualifications, and then training in the role once appointed.

Herefordshire Aero Club Ltd is based at Shobdon airfield (EGBS), in rural Herefordshire near Leominster on the English/Welsh border. The airfield is a long-established, busy and developing GA airfield, with HAC responsible for airfield management and fixed-wing training, and other stakeholders on the airfield providing helicopter, microlight, gliding and gyrocopter instruction.

Please get in contact by emailing airfieldops@shobdonairfield.co.uk for more information about the roles and our employment packages.
