Visiting By Road Or On Foot
Here at Shobdon Airfield safety in all its aspects is of the highest importance.
Shobdon Airfield can be a busy environment with a variety of aviation activities from fixed-wing aircraft, microlights, helicopters, gyrocopters and gliders so awareness of airfield protocols is essential to the safety of all.
Shobdon Airfield is a licensed airfield and is classed as active at all times, regardless of whether the airfield operator’s offices are open.
Any unauthorised person trespassing on the active airfield may be subject to prosecution and fines according to the Civil Aviation Act 1982, Section 39.
Aircraft always have right of way when taxiing between the hangar aprons, fuel pumps and the active airfield.
All vehicles and pedestrians must give way to taxiing aircraft.

Vehicles
The active airfield, runways, fuel areas and aprons are strictly off limits to unauthorised vehicles at all times.
Standard car insurance will not cover vehicles driving or parking on an active airfield.
Parking is available in the field on the left as you come to the end of the roadway before entering the airfield.
There is no access or public right of way through the caravan park.
Learner drivers are prohibited from the entering the airfield at any time.
The speed limit of 10 mph must be obeyed.
Pedestrians
The active airfield, runways, fuel areas and aprons are strictly off limits to unauthorised pedestrians at all times.
Pedestrians must remain on designated pathways, official footpaths or within the visitors viewing areas. NB. where the bridle path crosses the eastern end of the runway, a diversion is provided in the interests of safety.
The caravan park is a private site, there is no access or public right of way for members of the public.
Smoking and vaping is only permitted in designated areas - never in the vicinity of the fuel bund, pumps or bowsers.
Children must be supervised at all times.
Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
Activities
The flying of drones anywhere within the ATZ (air traffic zone) is prohibited unless prior permission has been obtained.
Kites and helium filled balloons are not permitted.

Even when our offices are closed, the airfield is active and often used.
Pedestrians must use the designated pathways.
